Let's go for a RiDE

Get fit and develop your riding skills! Our comprehensive 11 week program brings coaches and cyclists together in a weekly training environment to help you go beyond your current abilities.Whether you're looking to get fit, learn safer road skills, master advanced group skills like paceline, or ready to get race fast, the RiDE Program has a group for you. RiDErs are divided into groups to match you with cyclists of similar ability. Below are key characteristics of each RiDE group to help you choose the one best suited to your cycling ability and fitness level. $125 for members and $150 for non-members.

Green

Focus on developing your fitness and riding skills while training to complete a 40 mile group ride. You will learn how to ride safe & confidently on the road in a group as well as basics like when to shift, how to best ride in hilly conditions, tire repair, simple bike maintenance and more individual riding and safety skills.

Although it requires commitment, you'll be training in a supportive & relaxed group environment with experienced leaders. To start, RiDErs must be able to ride and control their bike and maintain a minimum average pace of at least 10 mph for a one hour ride on rolling terrain at the classification ride.

We have a clear severe weather policy to help our RiDErs stay safe, but we ride in ever-increasing temperatures/heat, occasional strong winds, and may even encounter unexpected rain. RiDErs should be prepared for this physically and mentally.

Road or hybrid bike and helmet are required. See FAQ for more information.

You must be coachable and ready to have fun! The Green RiDE group will progress from rides of 10 miles to 40 miles over the 12 week program.

Whether you’re just getting started cycling or experienced, if your interest is recreational riding, developing fitness or just having fun socializing in group rides the Green RiDE is for you.

Blue

Blue RiDE is all about advanced group riding skills. You'll develop those skills while training for a metric century (62 miles). RiDErs need basic familiarity with shifting and braking systems of their road bike and the fitness ability to complete a 25+ mile ride with 1 or 2 rest stops on week one of Blue RiDE… so you must start with a base of fitness and some endurance.

Ongoing attendance of the scheduled RiDEs and weekly training on your own will be strongly encouraged, and required in some cases… skipping RiDEs and mid-week training will prevent participants from building the necessary endurance to complete the program.

We have a clear severe weather policy to help our RiDErs stay safe, but we ride in ever-increasing temperatures/heat, occasional strong winds, and may even encounter unexpected rain. RiDErs should be prepared for this physically and mentally.

We form small groups depending on need and speed. You will have a team that helps you learn advanced group skills. These skills are also great for the stronger solo rider or triathlete. It’s a great way to RiDE and meet like-minded people from all parts of the KC Metro area... All while learning the skills necessary to participate in area group rides with all the new friends you will make!

Road bike, helmet, cycling computer required. See FAQ for more information.

You need to be able to complete a 20 mile ride on rolling terrain (3-6% grades ) at the classification ride so we can place you in a group with similar pace. (To qualify for the Blue group the maximum time for the ride is 92 minutes)

Most importantly, you should be open to coaching/active instruction, serious about safety, and committed to advanced group skills like rotating pacelines.
