Ambassadors
Author Last Post
Well said, David. It's great to have our team leading the way on good behavior AND safety.
It’s already the end of August and road season is beginning to wind down for some of us. As I reflect on the past season the thing that sticks out in my mind is how racing team members are ambassadors for good riding. Those orange, black, and blue kits symbolize a group that is friendly, open to others, and safe to ride with. We obey stop signs and red lights, ride in a predictable manner, hold good lines, and avoid riding more than 2 abreast (OK I might have violated that last one on Monday’s recovery ride when the police officer had to “chirp” at us – sorry). While bumping, aggressive crowding for position, erratic surges, squeezing others into the curb, and passing in the gutter may be part of racing, we don’t exhibit these practices on social rides. We are role models for how to safely ride in a group.

Our brand: friendly to all cyclists and safe to ride with.

The other thing that comes to mind when I reflect on the season is that I didn’t race much. And that’s OK because I have a long list of really good excuses, just ask.

Enough philosophizing already! Get out and ride, and remember to hydrate over the next few days.
